Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
1. Information We Collect
We collect: (a) Account information — name, email address, and profile photo provided via Google Sign-In; (b) Sport and match data — which sports you play, your role/position per sport, match scores, results, and statistics you or organisers enter; (c) Content you upload — highlight videos, thumbnails, and captions; (d) Usage data — which pages you visit, how often you log in, general device/browser type, and (with permission) whether you've enabled push notifications; (e) Marketplace data — listings you post or interact with, as described in section 5.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: provide and improve the Pitchside platform across all supported sports; display your player profile and statistics to other users; show you tournaments, marketplace listings, and highlights relevant to the sports you've selected; send you push notifications you've opted into; understand which features are used most so we can improve them; process reports and maintain platform safety.
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with: third-party services that help us operate the platform (Supabase for our database, Google for authentication, Vercel for hosting and anonymised usage analytics); other users — your name, profile photo, sport(s), and match statistics are visible to all Pitchside users; law enforcement if required by law.
4. Player Profiles & Statistics
Your player profile (name, photo, role per sport, match statistics) is publicly visible to all Pitchside users. This is core to the platform's functionality. You can remove your photo, remove a sport from your profile, or delete your account at any time.
5. Player Marketplace Data
If you post a match requirement as an organiser, your UPI ID and payee name are shown to any player who views that specific listing — this is necessary for the payment flow and is a choice you make each time you post. Your UPI ID is not shown to users browsing the marketplace generally, only to those who open your specific listing. Pitchside does not store, process, or have visibility into the actual payment transaction — it only stores what you enter (UPI ID, amount, listing details) and whether the organiser has marked a payment as received.
6. Highlights & Uploaded Video
When you upload a highlight video, we store the video file, an auto-generated or manually chosen thumbnail, and any caption or player tag associated with it. Uploaded videos are visible to other Pitchside users within the same sport. View counts and likes on your highlights are visible to other users; who specifically viewed or liked a video is only visible to admins for moderation purposes.
7. Push Notifications & Device Data
If you enable push notifications, we store a device subscription identifier (provided by your browser, not your phone number or personal contact details) so we can deliver notifications to that device. We do not use this to track your location. You can disable notifications at any time from your profile or your browser/device settings, which removes this subscription.
7a. Mobile Number & WhatsApp Updates
We ask for your mobile number so organizers can reach you and so we can send you WhatsApp updates (booking confirmations, match reminders, tournament news) and invite you to our WhatsApp community. Providing your number is required to use Pitchside. Your number is stored encrypted in our database — not as plain text — and only you and Pitchside admins (for legitimate support or moderation reasons) can access it; it is never shown to other players. Joining our WhatsApp community group itself remains your choice — you can decline that specific invitation without affecting your account. Deleting your account permanently removes your stored number.
8. Analytics & Local Storage
We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to understand aggregate, anonymised usage patterns (such as which pages are visited most) and site performance — this does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Separately, Pitchside stores a small amount of functional data in your browser's local storage — for example, which sport you last viewed and whether you've dismissed the notifications prompt — purely to make the app work smoothly across sports. This is not shared with third parties.
9. Sponsored Content
Pitchside may show sponsored video advertisements from third-party businesses. We record anonymised or account-linked interaction data (such as whether an ad played, was skipped, or completed, and whether you tapped its call-to-action button) so sponsors can see how their content performed. We do not share your personal contact details with sponsors as part of this — if a sponsor's ad links out to their own site, anything you do there is governed by that sponsor's own privacy practices, not ours.
9a. Live Player Auctions
Tournament organisers can run a live player auction, where team captains bid a virtual (not real-money) budget to build their squad. During an auction, your name, photo, and bidding activity for the team you captain are visible in real time to everyone participating in or watching that auction. This is entirely separate from any real payment — no money changes hands as part of auction bidding.
9b. Photo Quality & Admin Reprocessing
To keep profile photos looking sharp across the app, Pitchside admins may, from time to time, reprocess an already-uploaded photo (for example, to improve its resolution) without requiring you to re-upload it. This only adjusts the technical quality of the image you already provided — it does not use it for any other purpose, and does not add detail beyond what your original photo contained.
10. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure database storage. However, no system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your Google account.
11. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information and uploaded content are removed, though some anonymised match data may remain for statistical purposes, and content you organised (tournaments, marketplace listings) is removed along with your account.
12. Your Rights
You have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; remove a sport, video, or piece of content you've added; delete your account and associated data; withdraw consent (including for notifications) at any time. Contact us through the Feedback section to exercise these rights.
13. Age Requirement
Pitchside is only for users aged 18 and over — this covers tournament payments, organizing matches, and how we handle personal data. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to hold an account. If someone misrepresents their age to sign up, Pitchside is not responsible for any resulting consequences, and the account will be permanently deleted as soon as this is discovered, without prior notice, and that email address will not be permitted to create a new account.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically as Pitchside adds new features. We will notify you of significant changes via the app. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance.
15. Contact
For privacy-related questions or requests, use the Feedback section in the app. We aim to respond within 7 business days.
